3 Biggest Myths about Owning a Spa — BustedA spa can be one of the most powerful ways to unwind, destress and relax.

A full-body soak in the hot water and the massage jets can work together to offer pain relief from arthritis, back pain and sore muscles, and studies show it can lead to a better night’s sleep.

We know you have many questions, though. Is owning a hot tub worth it? Is a hot tub hard to maintain?

Watson’s has you covered. We’ve been in business for more than 50 years, and our experts are here to answer all of your questions.

Below, our experts tackle some of the most frequent questions and common myths about buying a spa.

Watson’s has one of the largest spa selections in the nation, all at the guaranteed lowest price in the USA. Shop all spas now, or contact us now and we’ll help answer all your questions to find the right spa for you, your home and your budget.

MYTH: Hot tubs are expensive

Hot tubs are an investment, of course — but there are options for nearly any budget. Many of our customers are surprised to find options that are more affordable than they expected.

Price will vary, depending on things like the size (including the number of seats), the number and variety of jets, the materials used on the interior and exterior, the spa’s energy efficiency and other features.

Entry level hot tubs can start right around $2,000. Luxury spas can run all the way up to $16,000 or more.

Rest assured: Watson’s guarantees the lowest price on each and every spa we sell. For a custom quote or to ask about current promotions in your area, contact us now

MYTH: Hot tubs are hard to maintain

In order for your spa to be the oasis of your dreams, it needs to stay clean and balanced. It will require some routine maintenance.

Once you learn the basics, though, it’s a relatively simple routine that will keep maintenance to a minimum. We have a handy breakdown of the weekly, monthly and quarterly tasks in our beginner’s guide to spa & hot tub care and maintenance here.

The good news: More and more tools are available to make this nearly maintenance free.

For example: The FROG @ease system, designed specifically for Bullfrog Spas, offers a self-regulating water care experience that makes it easier than ever to keep your water clean and clear.

It goes to work when the hot tub needs sanitizing, so there are no yo-yo chlorine levels and reduces the need for maintenance. This time-released method is also why less shock is needed to maintain the hot tub.

MYTH: You can’t enjoy your hot tub when it’s hot outside

If you're asking: “Can I use my hot tub in the summer?” or “Can I really use my spa without getting too hot?” you’re not the only one.

Spas are designed to be used year-round, so you can absolutely still use your hot tub in a hot climate or a humid summer day.

The key for many owners is to turn the temperature down. Many people find that right around 98 degrees feels right, with warm water that’s still relaxing and even refreshing.

You can also place a cold, wet washcloth on your forehead or neck. Add a drop of essential oil to the washcloth for an extra refreshing boost (we like lavender or peppermint, which both enhance relaxation).
