As we begin a New Year, it’s a great time to re-fresh and create the space you want for comfort and relaxation.
Pantone reveled its color of the year, which is called [Very Peri](https://www.pantone.com/articles/press-releases/introducing-pantone-17-3938-very-peri-pantone-color-of-the-year-2022), a bright violet paired with red undertones.
While this vibrant color sure adds some fun to the mix, let’s check out all the colors that will be on trend in 2022.
**Nature-Inspired**
One of the biggest trends this year in colors is nature-inspired. From greens and blues to browns and neutrals, there’s a big focus on creating a calm, serene, and re-energizing space using colors we would find in nature.
***Greens***
[Evergreen Frog by Sherwin-Williams](https://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW9130-evergreen-fog) is a soft green that pairs well with other neutral colors while still offering enough contrast to make a statement.
[Behr’s Breezeway](https://www.behr.com/consumer/ColorDetailView/MQ3-21/) is another shade of green, lighter in color, more reminiscent of a coastal feel.
Benjamin Moore chose a green shade, October Mist, as their 2022 color, a shade of sage that promotes anchoring a room.
Checkout this [earth-toned green ottoman](https://www.watsons.com/cumberland-ottoman-cumberlandottoman) in velvet that would create a stunning accent piece in a living room or bedroom.
***Blues***
Bringing the outdoors in, blues are on the list as well.
Graham & Brown choose the color [Breathe](https://www.grahambrown.com/us/breathe-paint/CT-090-018-master.html#q=breathe&lang=en_US&start=1) as their 2022 color, a soft blue that invites a sense of calm.
Aleutian by Sherwin-Williams is another shade of blue to add to your paint list this year. It’s a great shade to complement natural wood and other neutral elements within a room.
Checkout this [statement sofa](https://www.watsons.com/brette-two-cushion-sofa-brettetwocushionsofa) in a beautiful shade of blue or [this chair](https://www.watsons.com/cumberland-chair-cumberlandchair) in a lighter shade.
***Whites:***
An all-time classic, white will always be on our list, but this year, the shades of white are softer replicating natural fabrics like cotton and linen.
[Valspar’s gilded linen](https://www.valspar.com/en/colors/colors-of-the-year/2022/lowes/gilded-linen) color adds warmth with an organic feel accenting other natural elements within a room while keeping it light and airy.
Did you know there are [psychological benefits](https://londonimageinstitute.com/how-to-empower-yourself-with-color-psychology/) to sticking with a nature-inspired palette?
Greens represent nature, healing, growth, and freshness. For feelings of balance, rebirth, and healing, stick to the lighter-toned greens.
Blues are associated with trust, peace, and serenity. It’s the most favored color and lends to creating a space that can reduce stress and even slow your heart rate. For a space you want to feel calm in, pick medium to lighter shade blues.
Whites represent cleanliness, innocence, and simplicity.
**Neutrals**
A neutral palette isn’t anything, well . . . new, but it is making a comeback as more people are looking to create a more peaceful, relaxing environment. Especially considering how much time we’ve spent at home!
Neutrals also make it easy to add pops of color where you want meaning you can change it up as often as you want without having to spend a lot of money. From throw pillows and rugs, to artwork and decor, neutrals always provide an easy backdrop to accent all your accents!
For neutrals, think grays, beiges, whites, and taupes with warmer undertones like browns. You can expect to see these colors accented with nature-inspired colors this coming year when it comes to design.
You’ll also notice a continued trend with using more natural materials like wood and stone and adding more natural accents like plants and woven baskets.

**Soft Colors**
While selecting neutrals and nature-inspired colors, you’ll also notice that the color trend this year is soft colors. Designers are going for a more subtle look, using neutrals combined with an accent wall of a soft green, blue, or even pink.
Pair these soft colors with soft finishes like matte metals and natural pieces of furniture like reclaimed wood pieces and you’ll hit the trend jackpot for style points for 2022.
