How to Enjoy Your Hot Tub on a Hot Summer Day

Written by Watson's | May 25, 2021 7:43:43 PM

It's official: Summer heat is here.

And if you're asking: “Can I use my hot tub in the summer?” or “Can I really use my spa without getting too hot?” you’re not the only one.

The answer is a resounding yes. Spas are designed to use year-round, so you can absolutely use your hot tub on a hot  summer day without rushing out for a cool shower.

In fact, a spa soak in the summer can be the most relaxing way to help muscle aches and pains after hours of yardwork, a game of baseball or a round of golf.

It can even help you cool off.

Below, our spa experts have some tips on how to have the best spa experience in the summer.

Considering a hot tub or spa? Watson’s has one of the largest selections in the nation, all at the guaranteed lowest price in the USA. Shop spas now

TIP 1: Hot tubs don’t have to be hot

Despite the name, hot tub water doesn’t necessarily need to be hot.

If you crave a cooler dip on a hot day, turn off the heater all together or lower the temperature to a more comfortable level.

Keeping the temperature right around or slightly below 98 degrees can be refreshing, while still providing the warm water that's relaxing.

Depending on your hot tub make and model, your spa may have a Summer Mode option that helps you take advantage of warmer air and save on electricity bills.

HotSpring also offers CoolZone™ Technology. It can lower the temperature of your spa water down to a brisk 60 degrees, then heat it back up again to enjoy on a cool evening.

TIP 2: Adjust your hot tub schedule to early morning or evening

Depending on where you live, it could be too warm for a soak in the hot tub in the middle of the day — especially in the summer.

A simple solution: Relax those sore muscles at dusk or dawn.

Some people have never even considered the idea of soaking in a hot tub in the morning, before the temperature rises. It can be the perfect way, though, to ease into your day with relaxation and balance.

Alternatively, dusk or nightfall is also a great opportunity to unwind from the day, relax sore muscles and prepare your body (and your mind) for bedtime.

TIP 3: Take advantage of rainy days in the tub

A summer rainstorm can break the summer heat spell -- and the cool peace that follows is the perfect time to melt into your spa.

For your personal safety, avoid water if there is thunder or lightning.

Other than that, though, many people choose to soak in their hot tub after or even during the rain. Just imagine tilting your face back, closing your eyes and letting the cool rain drip onto your face.

TIP 4: Throw a hot tub party

Summer is a social season, and your spa is the perfect excuse to bring together friends and family for a BBQ or good conversation. What friend wouldn't appreciate an invite to soak in the spa?

Set the stage with spa fragrances, a spa waterfall or LED lighting. Then turn on your favorite music, grab a cool drink and slip into the spa for happy hour.
