If you’re a pool or spa owner wondering about the coronavirus, the nation's health protection agency has weighed in.

“There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs,” the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention posted on its site.

“Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19," the CDC continued.

In other words, health experts believe the standard chlorine levels of a properly maintained pool would kill any virus, and that even coronavirus cannot survive in chlorinated water.

If you are worried, or if you had someone outside of your family swim in your pool recently, super shock the pool water and hose down the surrounding areas with a chlorine bleach solution.

Shocking your pool weekly or after a party or other gathering always a good idea.
